After Adam and Eve ate the apple we see them immediately feeling shame and the evidence of this is they sewed fig leaves to cover themselves. Adam also hides from God. When God asks Adam if he ate of the tree he told him not to eat from he immediately blames Eve and does not take responsibility for his own actions and attempts to deceive God.
The tree of knowledge of good and evil’s fruit was so toxic to the body that God commanded Adam and Eve to not even touch it.
Genesis 3:3 records, “ But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.”
