Jesus said in Matthew 24:29-31, and “immediately after the tribulation of those days, “the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all of the tribes will mourn, they will see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”
Immediately after the pouring onto the Earth of the bowl judgments, the sun and moon will be darkened. The darkening can occur from the sun’s previous state of getting so hot that it burned up all of its energy, and with the darkening of the sun comes the blood moon to finally the moon dimming and the stars will fall from heaven possibly from the sun going out. The Earth without the sun will get bitter cold below freezing. The Earth will go off its orbit and the falling stars will obliterate the Earth (Isaiah 24:19-20).
Jesus appears in the clouds with the saints and the trumpet sounds with the gathering of the elect and the current physical world as we know it ceases to exist.
