The Antichrist’s Peace Treaty and the Two State Solution

Israel at the Center of World Affairs

In 1948 when Israel became a nation it was one of the biggest events in Bible Prophecy news. Its history of conflict and the need for peace became another area of unfolding prophecy. It is a no coincidence that the Israeli Arab peace process is an issue in these end times. In addition Israel has come to the center of world affairs. From Israel becoming a nation in 1948, to the decade after decade of conflict Israel centers on the Bible Prophecy radar screen.

Two State Solution Does Not Fulfill Biblical Prophecy

But the two state solution does not fit the unholy covenant that the Antichrist will offer.   The US, Russia and the EU adopted the two state solution embraced since the mid 1970’s.

Equally important although Israel became a nation, it does not possess all the land God promised to Abraham.  Under King Solomon, Israel came to possess most of it.  The land promised, (Palestine) stretched from the Sinai Desert north and east to the Euphrates River.  This includes present day Israel, Lebanon, and the West Bank of Jordan, plus substantial portions of Syria, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia.

Israel’s History of Conflict and the Two State Solution

Since the nation of Israel reformed in 1948 it has had a history of conflict. The 1967  ignited by Egypt closing the Straights of Tiran to Israeli shipping vessels, took place between Israel, Egypt, Jordan and Syria. Israel made massive territorial gains.  Israel captured the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Golan Heights and the Sinai Peninsula up to the Suez Canal. This caused the UN Security Council to adopt resolution 242.  This demanded Israel withdrawal from “territories occupied” in the 1967 war.

During the late 70’s leaders of Israel, Egypt, and the US met at Camp David and agreed on two bases for Middle East peace.  They signed the Camp David Peace Treaty in 1979. The treaty ended 31 years of war between Egypt and Israel. The Palestinian issues were not resolved. There were calls for Israel to withdraw from the land it captured.
In 1982, Israeli forces invaded southern Lebanon with the goal of ousting the PLO.  Ronald Reagan sent Secretary of State George Shultz to the Middle East to conclude an agreement on the withdrawal of all troops from Lebanon.  Israel and Lebanon signed the accord.

The Peace Process

In 1991, after the Gulf War, former President Bush who supported the creation of a Palestinian state sent Secretary of State James Baker on a series of trips to the region.  He explored compromises to help begin the Arab/Israeli peace process.

The major dispute is between Israel and the Palestinians. Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip seek autonomy over their affairs.

The Oslo Accords

In 1993, Israeli and Palestinian delegations secretly negotiated in Oslo, Norway.   They signed the Oslo accords. Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin ended decades as sworn enemies.  The Israelis and Palestinians recognized each other’s mutual political rights. They agreed to strive to live in peaceful coexistence.  Negotiators set up a time table for Israeli troops to withdraw from Gaza and Jericho. The Israeli’s and Palestinians also set up for Palestinians to set up their own government.  They looked to 1999 for the finalization of a permanent settlement.

The Oslo Accords did not go according to plan.  Conflicts arose and the peace process reached many impasses.  The US and EU sent several delegations to the area.  In 2004, Yasser Arafat died and the conflict has continued.

The Roadmap for peace

The Roadmap for peace or road map for peace was a plan to resolve the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.  It was proposed by the Quartet on the Middle East: the United States, the European Union, Russia and the United Nations. The principles of the plan, originally drafted by U.S. Foreign Service Officer Donald Blome, were first outlined by U.S. President George W. Bush in a speech on 24 June 2002. He called for an independent Palestinian state living side by side with Israel in peace.

Since the year 2002

Since 2003  the Israeli-Palestinian talks continued.

From December 2006 to mid-September 2008, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and President Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority met 36 times.  These comprised of lower-level talks.

Arab Peace Initiative

In 2007 Olmert welcomed the Arab League‘s re-endorsement of the Arab Peace Initiative. In his bid to negotiate a peace accord and establish a Palestinian state, Olmert proposed a plan to the Palestinians.

Obama and the Israeli Palestinian Peace Process

In 2010 former President Obama tried to revive the stalled talks. He sent US Secretary of State to the region.

On July of 2013 US Secretary of State John Kerry went to the region to restart Direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians to add some progress to the peace process.

In April 2014, Israel suspended talks due to the new Palestinian Unity Government.

In 2014, Abbas submitted a proposal to John Kerry for the Peace process. It would begin with 9 months of talks. They agreed to  a three-year plan for Israel to withdraw to the 1967 lines, leaving East Jerusalem as Palestine’s capital.

France’s Conference For Peace in the Middle East

In January 2017 France hosted a Conference For Peace in the Middle East. It brought together over 70 countries and organizations.  In their joint declaration they reaffirmed their belief that a two state solution is the only way to peace. They affirmed a commitment to aimto achieve it.

The Trump Peace Plan

Even the Trump peace plan, which aims for a comprehensive peace in the region does not touch the two state solution if it is agreed by both sides.

The two state solution has been attempted for over 40 years. It is not moving forward in any capacity. Yet the two state solution is advocated by many players including France’s Macron and Pope Francis.

But, The two state solution is not the Peace treaty that will be negotiated by the Antichrist on behalf of Israel.

The unholy covenant that will be agreed by the Antichrist and will begin the Tribulation will mimick the Abrahamic covenant and guarantee Israel peace and not divide Jerusalem or its land.

As a student of Bible Prophecy it is a big deal that a peace process is being sought, but the two state solution does not fit the bill of the unholy covenant that will be agreed by the Antichrist.

Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem

In this regard the latest biggest development in Bible Prophecy was Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and plan to move the US embassy.  Trump bucked against the tide of world opinion.  This included the UN decision against Trump’s decision.  Trump set a precedent and the Antichrist will most likely do the same, and it will be easier for Antichrist since Trump has already broken this ground.  The Arab world recently gathered and is now calling for official recognition of East Jerusalem as the Capital of Palestine.  This will never happen because in Bible Prophecy we see a Jerusalem that is not divided that has a role in the earth’s final years.

Tide Turning Against Two State Solution

The tide seems to be turning against the two state solution. Stiftung Wissenschaft Und Politik, the German Institute for International and Security Affairs, they present in their report  The End of a two state settlement that the two state solution is no longer viable and explains why.

Other Alternatives for Peace

There are other alternatives to the two state solution that are being proposed. Leading Israeli’s speaking on Talk 17 are providing their plans from the experience of living in Israel.  There are also other plans and ideas being floated and one of them is Israel becoming a member of the European Union and thereby will come under its protection and regional peace plans. I referenced one such plan that was written up by the think tank the Federalist Trust for Education and Research in as early as 1991 and peace would be guaranteed by the European Union.

Currently, the prevailing view within the EU and the world is the two state solution.

Looking to what the future tells us below are five possibilities regarding the Peace treaty that begins the Tribulation and will be agreed from the European Union.

In light of it beginning after the Ezekiel 38 war there are two steps that will occur.

1.

The current two state solution falls out of favor and peace is achieved paving the way for the Ezekiel 38 war.

2.      The Ezekiel 38 war will occur, the Al-Aqsa Mosque will be leveled in via the war or the earthquake that will take place and make way for the building of the Third Temple and the war which is initiated by the Arabs and Russia will open the door for the unholy trinity and the guarantee of peace.

If the timing of the Ezekiel 38 war is to occur during the millennium and it will not begin the Tribulation the path might be as follows:

3.     The current two state solution falls out of favor and the Antichrist sets forth his proposal of a one state solution.
 Or
4.     Israel becomes a member of the European Union and is given all guarantees and protections as part of the EU.
In conclusion, the two state solution does not fit the covenant and actually provides a gap to the fulfillment of the prophetic forecasts.

Despite the gap, for Bible Prophecy watchers there are several key developments:

The quest for peace in the region,

  • The fact that Israeli Palestinian peace is on the foreign policy agenda of each major power,
  •  That the European Union went a decade ago from an outside observer to a major player,
  • and with Donald Trump’s bucking the world tide and deciding to move the US embassy to Israel’s capital Jerusalem,
  • Finally the preparations in this last decade for the building of the Third Temple and that this past year a sacrifice was performed close to the Temple for the first time.
We will see the two state solution dissipate as more of the events begin to fall into place. These are exciting times in which we live.

Bible prophecy presents frightening truths to the reader, but its message is not entirely one of doom and gloom.

Believers in Jesus Christ will not go through the Tribulation. God will take them out of the world in the Rapture just before it begins. God provides a way out. His way offers refuge and eternal life.

God’s gift of eternal life with Christ is simple to obtain, but few will take it.

All men are sinners. Sin is anything that we say or do that does not bring glory to God. God is righteous, and the slightest sin within us makes us unrighteous in His sight. There is nothing in and of ourselves that we can do to obtain the favor of God. Isaiah 64:6 states: “And all our righteousness are like filthy rags.” God will not even accept one into heaven for his good works. Salvation is by faith alone. Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us: “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works lest anyone should boast.”

But Romans 10:13 promises, “For whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

God promises eternal life to anyone who accepts Jesus Christ as his personal savior.

John 5:24 states: “Most assuredly, I say to you, He who hears My word, and believes in him who sent me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment; but has passed from death into life.”

Sinner’s Prayer

If you want to be sure that you are saved and that heaven will be your home, pray this simple sinner’s prayer and mean it with all of your heart: “Oh God, be merciful to me as a sinner, I believe that Jesus died for my sins, and trust Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord Jesus for saving me.”

He that believes in the Son has everlasting life: and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him. (John 3:36)
